Governors

Our Governing Body is made up of parents, staff, representatives of the Parish, Diocese, and Local Authority. School governing bodies are responsible for working with the school to ensure that it delivers a good quality education. Together with the headteacher, who is responsible for day-to-day management, they set the school's aims and policies.

Furthermore, the governing body is responsible for the conduct of its school, and must promote high standards of educational achievement at the school. The role is demanding, but highly rewarding and a good way to give back to your local community. Governors do not need to have any previous connection with the school, and decisions are made as a group.

The main role of the Governing Body is to:

• provide a strategic view of the school by establishing a vision and setting the purpose and aims of the school within an agreed policy framework.

• monitor and evaluate the work of the school by learning about the way pupils are being taught, the progress pupils make and considering the effectiveness of the school improvement strategy.

• ensure financial security for the school as an organisation, approving the budget and monitoring spending through the year.

• respond to and hold the school account against external reviews and reports of the school (such as those for OFSTED or SIAMS).

Please get in touch if you are interested in joining our Governing Body and would like to know more about what a Governor does! There is no need to have a prior connection to the school.
